It's cold here. Like really, really, -11 degree cold. Just an hour away they set the record for the lowest temperature in recorded history in the entire state of Oklahoma!
Crazy weather. That is Oklahoma's thing. . You know what i mean by "thing" right? That one part of something or someone that really makes them "them." It could be part of their personality, something they always say or do, or even their sense of style. Oklahoma's thing is crazy weather. I believe our state has the craziest weather in the nation.
Benjamin's thing is throwing things. Rather, throwing everything. Life is almost perfect to Ben. It would probably only be better if everything he threw would roll and/or bounce.
I can't remember my "thing." Although, I can't remember much these days, so maybe my thing is not remembering. Or, forgetting. The other day, my friend, Jesse, said that when she had her daughter she thinks part of her brain came out when she delivered the placenta. That is exactly how I feel!
Anyway, it was cold. So it makes sense that I was looking forward to enjoying a nice hot cup of cocoa. Ben wanted to help, of course! We made hot water, stirred in our mix, topped it off with marshmallows, and it was starting to look delicious. Just as I was about to top it with Reddi Whip, Benjamin grabbed the mug and in two seconds he picked it up and set it down, up and down again, and the third time up he threw it on the floor. No, Ben, mugs don't bounce.
Normally I could have stopped this before it happened. But normally I hold him on the left side so I can do stuff with my right hand. I went to pilates a few weeks ago where I was told my muscles are out of balance because I always hold Ben on the same side. So this day was one of the times I was trying to hold my baby on my right side and do things with my left hand. Well my left side may be stronger, but it is much slower and less coordinated as well. So there was no stopping the disaster at hand.
No, Benjamin, mugs do not bounce. But I'm sure he will try it again if given the opportunity! The mess was cleaned up, and once Ben went down for a nap, I enjoyed a fresh cup of hot cocoa.
